SPEAK UP!

We often feel that we need to earn the right to speak, that we can't say anything contrary or disagreeable to anyone unless we have a longstanding relationship with them - and even then we shrink back from speaking our mind, to their detriment and ours. They don't hear what obviously needs to be said, and we are confirmed in our mindset of maintaining peace at all costs.

When it comes to speaking the gospel, it is not a question of earning the right, it's a command to go and tell the world. We are too peace loving at the expense of others finding peace with God... the only peace that ultimatlely matters.

Of course we need to do this with gentleness and respect, but speak up we must. Above all we need wisdom, to say the right things, at the right time, to have the right outcome! As Paul says, "Be wise in the way you act towards outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone" (Col.4:5-6).

When last did you say anything contrary or disagreeable to someone - your family doesn't count!
