OUR VISION
Children’s ministry at CCSW aims to see the children in our congregation — and those of our local area — come to know and love Jesus Christ, and live this out in their own lives and families. We work towards this goal by encouraging parents to teach their children the Gospel. We also do this by creating a community that supports and encourages the children as they follow Jesus. Our goal is that the children we reach both show and tell everyone they meet about the good news of Jesus Christ.
OUR VALUES
The Gospel changes lives, brings us peace with God and with one another, and brings renewal as we grow in our Christian walk. Jhn. 3:16-17, Rom. 1:16, Gal. 3:28
We support and encourage the parents in our church, because we believe that teaching our children the Gospel is key. Its truth can change their lives and set them on the path of following Christ. Deut. 6:7, 20-25; Prov. 22:6
The promise of eternal life is for anyone who believes, and that includes children. Children have a place in God’s family, and so also need to be taught and encouraged in it. Rom. 10:13; Acts 2:39
Timothy was not a child, but we believe that like him, even though they are young, children can also set an example for those around them and live out a powerful Gospel witness. 1 Tim. 4:12
OUR MISSION
Here at Christ Church Somerset West, we reach out to the children in our community through Kid’s Club, which meets on a Friday night for the children to learn from the Bible, have fun playing games, enjoy group socials, and spend time with their friends. Our main goal at Kid’s Club is to reach out with the Gospel to our children, showing them who Jesus is and what he has done for them.
On Sundays, Children’s Church meets during our church services for the children to learn from God’s Word, in groups and at their own level. Our main goal at Children’s Church is to disciple the children and help them to grow in their walk with Jesus.
We encourage and equip our parents to train their children in the Gospel, especially through our quarterly parents’ meetings, at the beginning of each term. Parents are encouraged to suggest topics for discussion, and either our church staff or a member of our congregation with specialist knowledge on the topic will help engage with it from a biblical perspective.
We also believe that a key part of reaching out to children is through authentic, personal relationships, and for this reason our children’s worker Esther visits the families in our congregation to encourage, play with, and grow deep and meaningful relationships with the children and their parents.
SERVE WITH KIDS
If you call Christ Church Somerset West home, we need your help serving our Church families. It takes a team of faithful volunteers to be able to serve our children. We need a team of trained volunteers who can commit to being available for two gatherings a month. Volunteers must be over 18 years of age. If you’re interested in being a part of our Children’s Ministry, register to serve.
