4THE1 UPDATE

Living out our faith, instilling hope and showing God’s love.

How will we reach the one? By imitating Jesus. He came for the one. Jesus came for the gangster, the prostitute, the alcoholic, the drug addict, the struggling mother who gets abused, the dad who can’t provide, the mute, the sick, the lost and the sinner. He came for you and me. Jesus came for each individual that we come into contact with. Jesus came to set us free. He came for “the one”, and we are motivated to serve because we love Him. We believe a community can be transformed by reaching one individual at a time.

This vision was birthed by God and actioned by faith in April 2019 in Sir Lowry’s Pass Village. Since then, the ministry has developed steadily over time. We started in a park with some books, biscuits, balls and the love of Jesus in our hearts. Shortly after, we were granted permission to serve the children in a churchyard. Through consistent love and care for the children in our weekly programmes, we’ve had the privilege of seeing God at work in beautiful ways, reaching into the lives of these precious children and changing their destiny for eternity. We have witnessed how lives are being transformed through the work and person of Jesus Christ, and we thank God - He gets all the glory!

God has remained ever faithful to all His promises in Scripture, and His faithfulness has sustained the ministry. Many of the children we serve are at risk, and creating a safe environment is very important as there are few safe places in Sir Lowry’s Pass Village. We have faced many challenges, but by the grace of God, we stand.

On Tuesdays, our focus is educational, and on Fridays, our focus is evangelical. Everything we do is linked to “Living out our faith, instilling hope and showing God’s love.” Teaching the children the importance of boundaries and respect is something that we also focus on.

From the outset, we wanted to create a dynamic Early Childhood Development Centre and Community Centre with a multipurpose building to facilitate various activities. We looked into many options and found an ideal location to purchase a piece of land. This will allow us to establish further the work we are doing through permanency and long-term investment in the community’s lives.

Seeing boys and girls come to faith and grow in their love for the Lord Jesus Christ impacts their lives and those around them. For three and a half years, we have been building relationships of trust and have seen how the gospel of Jesus Christ transforms lives. Christ Church Somerset West has supported this work from the beginning, and we have enjoyed joint Christmas Parties in Somerset West in 2019 and Sir Lowry’s Pass Village in 2021. We thank God for the partnership in the gospel. We are also very grateful to the many families supporting our work. We’ve also enjoyed the privilege of exposing the children to CCSW Holiday Clubs, which are indeed a highlight and these experiences the children will never forget.
