CHRISTMAS AT THE GOLDEN OLDIES
Christmas is coming and ...
Our final Golden Oldie’s meeting did not focus on the “geese are getting fat” or “request a penny in the old man's hat!”
Sigrid (our Ministry Operations Manager) shared her family’s German Christmas traditions and all the delectable treats she anticipates for 364 days of each year. Lucky German children start the season early with a shoe full of sweets and treats from Saint Nicolas on the 6th December.
Someone said “Christmas is best seen through the eyes of a child" but Christmas must be seen through the eyes of God's Word. The birth of a baby called Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. Immanuel, God with us!
Feasting, fun, fellowship and a spiritual blessing as Sigrid shared some wonderful truths to hold onto this season. The birth of this child reminds us:
God is with us, today and always (Matthew 1:23)
God is immeasurably great yet unexpectedly humble (Luke 2:7)
God is at work in the darkness (Isaiah 9:2)
God has good news of great joy (Luke 2:10-11)
God always keeps his promises (Luke 1:69-70)
God is worthy of all praise (Luke 2:13-14)
We also offer congratulations to our oldest Oldie, Audrey, who turned 95 this month!
