EASTER WEEK AT CHRIST CHURCH
Easter week started with three nights of amazing teaching and encouragement from Bishop Martin Morrison, from Christ Church Midrand. Martin was our guest speaker and he spoke on “Jesus in the Old Testament”.
On the Thursday evening we enjoyed a Lamb Spit Braai meal together as a church family. Around 250 people attended and the sound of vibrant conversation filled the courtyard and old church hall, while people ate together. The evening meal was followed by a communion service.
On Good Friday and Easter Sunday, we had combined services at 9.30am with around 450 people attending each. We enjoyed singing some wonderful Easter songs and were reminded about the incredible truths of Easter.
On Good Friday, Gavin reminded us about the Roman Centurion’s conversion at the foot of the cross – literally moving from darkness to light as he declared that Jesus was the Son of God.
On Easter Sunday, Sean walked us through the different characters in the Easter narrative. He contrasted the criminal Barabbas (meaning “a son of a father”) alongside Jesus (the Son of the Father) - how one deserved death, but was set free by the innocent death of the other!
It was a challenging and moving weekend. All glory to God for His plan of salvation that we celebrate at Easter!
