JUNIOR YOUTH

Every Friday during school term the Grade 6 and 7's get together at Junior Youth to learn from God's Word, build friendships and have fun together. At the centre of the Junior Youth is a short, clear, evangelistic Bible talk which aims to show children more of Jesus and their need for him in their lives. The games we play are big, fun and high energy.

What is Junior Youth?

Older children prefer not to be around younger children. Children in the latter years of primary school feel much older than the younger children. They approach friendships differently and want activities to be more sophisticated. In Junior Youth we want to give older children an opportunity to invite their friends to a space that is specifically aimed at their age group.

So why do we run Junior Youth?

Older children can be evangelists. Older children understand that their salvation by Jesus Christ is precious, and want friends who are not Christians, to hear the gospel. Junior Youth helps children learn how to pray for their friends, invite them to a church event and care for them when they come along.

Older children are at a pivotal age. Statistically children usually decide whether to continue attending church between the ages of 8 and 13. This age is transitional. The child, through puberty, is changing into a young adult. Children in this age range are deciding whether they want Jesus Christ to be part of their lives. Junior Youth can be a great opportunity to teach the Bible in an age specific context. It can also be a fun time to enjoy with their friends, where church can gain credibility.

Finally, it is also an opportunity for new role models to play a part in their life, as the leaders care for them and discuss the Bible passage with them. So do you have children, neighbours or friends in Grade 6 or 7, let them join each Friday from 5.00-6.30 PM here at church!
