THE LIFE OF FAITH IN THREE WORDS

We were privileged to host Rev. Vaughan Roberts at all our Sunday services this past Sunday.  Vaughan has been on a period of sabbatical for the past few months, visiting Australia, New Zealand and now South Africa.  He became friends with Gavin Millard many decades ago when Gavin was studying at WITS university and Vaughan was involved in the student ministry there.

Vaughan is now the rector of St Ebbe’s in Oxford. He is a gifted preacher and writer, having authored more than 10 Christian books, many of which are available in our church library.

We are getting ready to study the book of Hebrews as a congregation.  So, Vaughan’s sermon was a summary of Hebrews in 3 words.  His focus was on chapter 10 and the three words were “PERSECUTION (PRESSURE), PERFECTION and PERSEVERENCE”.  We were challenged to think about the pressure that we face as Christians to follow the world, the perfection that Jesus, our perfect priest, achieved for us and the call to persevere in the faith.

You can access the full sermon by clicking on the link here.

We thank God for Vaughan – his gifts and his ministry.  Please join us in praying for him as he finishes this time of sabbatical and returns to the UK in the next few weeks.
