IT IS FINISHED

Are you satisfied with your work? Are you perhaps restless, frustrated, irritable at work? It could be that your work is difficult... you are not getting it done - at least to your and others satisfaction. This can be the case because the "way is blocked with thorns" (Prov. 15:19). However, it's more often because you are not resting from "the work behind the work". This work can be more tiring, emotionally and spiritually draining than the work itself. This is the work of self-justification, you always having to prove yourself by your performance! God ordained your work as a means of satisfaction. When you derive your entire self worth and significance from it, then your work becomes your justification, and you become miserable. This is why "Sabbath” is so important. The only way to know why you work, and whether work is driving you, is to down tools and rest. BUT Jesus calls you to more... to find your justification and deeply rest in him. On the cross he cried, “It is finished”. What is finished? The work behind your work!
