CHURCH MUSIC WORKSHOP
This past Saturday morning our CCSW musicians met at church for a training workshop. This was led by Bruce Retief from Christ Church Hermanus. Bruce is a commercially acclaimed musician, producer and composer who has also been involved in leading church music for more than 30 years.
There were two sessions of training, with a break in-between. A special thanks to those that contributed delicious baked goods for the musicians to enjoy with tea / coffee.
In the first session, Bruce took us through the biblical reasons for church music and how this affects our choices. We also thought about what it means to be part of a music team and how to grow as musicians. In the second session, Bruce gave us input and practical tips on sound mixing and music arrangements for congregational singing. It was an encouraging morning, with stimulating discussions around very relevant topics.
Please pray for Hakeem and our musicians as we digest the training we received and think about how best to put it into practice. It is a real privilege to serve our church family through God’s incredible gift of music. Please pray that we would do this well, for God’s glory!
