CONFIRMATION CLASSES HAVE BEGUN!
As a church, we hold to the belief that infants of believers are baptised when they are young. This is a sign of God's covenant with his people (just as circumcision was a sign in the Old Testament). Therefore, infant baptism is a sign of God's promise to believers and their children. An outward sign of the inward reality of being born again.
However, a time comes when those who have been baptised as infants wish to confirm that they too, have accepted the faith into which they were already baptised. That's what confirmation classes are all about. A chance to really dig into the Christian faith, with an opportunity for those attending to confirm their acceptance of the gift of faith for themselves.
For those that weren't baptised as infants, they still participate in the classes, but are baptised as believers, instead.
Classes began at CCSW this past Sunday afternoon. A lovely group of teens and young adults attended, with Sean leading the programme. They will meet for the next 2 Sundays (3 in total). As a church family, let's pray for them during this significant season in their lives.
Their names are (starting back left in the photo, moving clockwise):
Alex Schultz, Liam Liebbenberg, Michael and Jurgen Schroeder, James Grindrod, Leander Steyn, Nicholas Schacherl, Sophie Clover, Sean Savides, Hannah Ward and Christelle van der Spuy.
