COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS!

As the fourth term flies by, can you believe that there are only 3 Sundays left until it’s our first Carol Service of the Christmas season? Christmas presents us with so many wonderful opportunities to reflect on the gift of Jesus and to share that gift with others. But when life is full and busy, it’s easy to let the season creep up on us without much thought, leaving us potentially reactive and a bit frazzled.

Here are some thoughts to consider as the Christmas season approaches:

Read the Gospels
Reading through the gospels of Matthew and / or Luke is a wonderful way to approach the season. As we read, we can ponder on the wonder of the Christmas story and the unfolding narrative of Jesus’s ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension. We can ask God to bring the miraculous truth of “a child is born, a son is given” to life in our hearts again this year.

Prayerfully Invite
We can prayerfully and proactively invite our friends, neighbours, and family to our CCSW Christmas Carol Events.

Diarise – Sunday 3rd December for FAMILY CAROLS and Sunday 17th December for CLASSIC CAROLS

Pray for Gospel Opportunities
We can pray for our friends and family who haven’t yet met Jesus, asking God to give us opportunities to share the real hope of Christmas with them in this season.

Be Generous
We can look for opportunities to serve our church family in this season. There are lots of ways to do this:

  • At the various church events - chat to the staff about ways to get involved in serving over the season

  • At home – intentionally and proactively opening our homes to people who might be struggling in this season

  • At heart – being open to deepening relationships with those around us,  praying that God would be at work in all our lives in this season

“But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
– Luke 2: 10
