FINDING THE REAL HOPE OF CHRISTMAS AT OUR FAMILY CAROLS
This past Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. The Christmas season started at CCSW with Advent-themed services in the morning and our Family Carols Service in the evening.
Family Carols was preceded by a picnic in the courtyard from 5pm followed by a fun and festive Carols Service at 6.30pm.
The front of the church had been transformed into a family lounge, packed with fairy tale books. Some of the Kids Club and Junior Youth leaders became fun characters, portraying siblings in a fictional family.
There were 5 siblings in the family – two brothers (Elf and Twelf), two sisters (Ditsy and Grinchy) and their older sister, Santa Monica.
They dramatically brought to life the idea of that first Christmas being a real historical event, not just another fairy tale.
The congregation sang 7 Carols throughout the evening and our Children’s Choir sang two fun and festive songs – “Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem” and “Jesus is no fairy tale”.
Sean wrapped up the evening with a short talk. He focussed on the REAL PERSON of Jesus, his REAL birth and death, our REAL struggles in this world and the REAL HOPE that the gospel brings.
Because … Jesus is no fairy tale, he’s real as real can be!
Please join us for CLASSIC CAROLS on Sunday 17th December at 7.30pm.
