PASSING THE TORCH: CELEBRATING NEW LEADERSHIP IN REACH-SA

Dear Friends,

It’s with some mixed feelings that I send you my last email as Presiding Bishop.

There is certainly much that I shall miss about serving at this level of responsibility, most especially the opportunity to travel and meet so many of you working in such diverse ministry contexts. I will also miss the blessing of being able to see something of the “bigger picture” of God’s unfolding plan for His church on earth. Often, when we are hard at work in our own ministry field, we miss the encouragement of seeing how the Lord, in His sovereign wisdom, is stitching so many wider strands together in such amazing ways.

Even though I shall miss these aspects of the role, I am also excited to entrust the ongoing leadership of REACH-SA into very capable hands. I’m also grateful to be handing over a very effective admin team as well as an expanded regional leadership team. This will be a great help to our new PB and I’m so grateful to the Lord for my ‘behind the scenes’ team that has supported my work so effectively.

This coming Saturday (tomorrow – Saturday 10th February @ 12h00) I will officially hand over the role to the Rev. Dr. Siegfried Ngubane, at Christ Church, Midrand. Many people are travelling from around the country, the continent and the world, to attend this historic event. It certainly will be a day of great celebration. Siegfried will be the first Bishop to take on more than the role of Presiding Bishop of REACH – SA, he will also be installed as Archbishop of our newly formed Province of REACH-Southern Africa as well as Chancellor of George Whitefield College. These are truly historic times.

If you are not able to join us physically, please join us online on this link.

I am also including a link to a vlog and podcast of a recent conversation between myself and Siegfried Ngubane. I hope you will take time to listen in and get to know your new Presiding Bishop a little more.

Lastly, I want to give thanks to God for all of you. I know that I have only been able to accomplish this task through God’s power in response to your many prayers. How grateful I am to you all for your partnership in this Gospel ministry.

Every blessing

Glenn Lyons
