SIMEON TRUST TRAINING
The Simeon Trust is an organisation seeking to train people to progress in their teaching and preaching of the Bible. Workshops took place at St James Church, Kenilworth two weeks ago. There were two workshops over three days each – one for men, and one for women. Gavin Millard, Johan Walters and Hakeem Smith from CCCSW attended the men’s workshop from the Tuesday-Thursday, with Kirsty Savides and Marie Schoeman attending the women’s one from the Thursday-Saturday.
The men looked at the book of Revelation, with the women delving into the book of Mark. The methodology seeks to interpret the text via its original hearers, the lens of the gospel and into application today. Careful attention is paid to structure (looking for emphasis), context, argument and application. The workshops were an intense time of learning, which was hugely beneficial. They also provided a wonderful opportunity to connect and build relationships with other men and women who are teaching the Bible regularly.
