MINISTRY IS DEMANDING

I was encouraged by the Ministry Training Day that our staff attended this week. We were thinking about how to process the stress and pressure of pastoral ministry. I was reminded that pastoral ministry is demanding (if you're doing it properly) and that there are good and bad ways of coping with stress. We were also challenged to consider our limits and our priorities.

It was sobering to realise that the Apostle Paul felt the stress and pressure of pastoral ministry: "Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches. Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do no inwardly burn?" (2 Corinthians 11:28-29).

Yours in Christ,

Gavin
