TIMES OF CRISIS

This week in the office, and likely in our homes - among young and old - all conversations inevitably gravitate towards the war in Ukraine. Our world is becoming increasingly unstable, or so it seems. We have had to endure droughts, fires, the Covid pandemic, the political unrest in KZN and now the ripple effects of Russia’s unjustified war in the Ukraine. How are we to respond as Christians?

In our early morning Men’s group we are reading through the book of Ezekiel together. I was struck by the often repeated phrase “And then you will know that I am the LORD”. God’s purpose in the exile, a time of extreme hardship for the Israelites, was that people come to seek, find and know him in the midst of their troubles. The present crisis is the occasion for us to do the same.

Yours in Christ,
Gavin
