ON A MISSION
At our recent Ministry Communication Meeting we were encouraged to think about missions... and why missions is a part of our DNA at +CSW. The obvious answer is the Great Commission, but there is something behind Jesus command to take the gospel into all the world - that something is God’s name, his reputation… his glory! God does everything for his name’s sake. It’s the ultimate reason for his acting in salvation and judgement. It’s why he called Abraham, and promised to bless the world through him… and redeemed Israel from Egypt, to be a people of praise to tell all the world of his greatness and power. To Pharaoh, in the midst of the plagues, he says, “I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth” (Exodus 9:16). We we were created to worship him alone, and wherever God is not worshipped, he is being robbed of the honour and glory due his name. As the Israel of God, we are “...a chosen people, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that we may declare the praise of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). To tell all the world of Jesus is our calling… it’s why we exist!
Yours in Christ,
Gavin
