WE ASKED GOD TO HELP US REACH WOMEN AND HE ANSWERED!
Last Saturday, 17th August, the first of two REACH WOMEN Conferences for 2024 was hosted at CCSW.
When the Conference was bursting at the seams last year, with 950 women booked and many, many more wanting tickets, it was time to multiply!
So this year, the Conference Committee approached CCSW to host a second Conference on our campus. This would allow for the same Conference to be held on two different dates at two locations (St James Church Kenilworth and CCSW).
This strategy links beautifully with the goal to REACH WOMEN with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Both venues sold out almost a month before the 2024 dates, with even more women wanting tickets in future. We are witnesses of God growing this event before our eyes, making it now one of the biggest Christian Conferences for women in South Africa.

Alison Eloff was the speaker teaching from the book of 1 Thessalonians. The theme was READY AND WAITING. Alison encouraged us to think through how we trust Jesus day-by-day while waiting for his return.
There was an all-women music team, bringing together women from Christ Church Stellenbosch, Christ Church Strand and CCSW, capably managed by Sigrid Holsher.

In addition to the two Bible talks, there was an interview with Ikho Poswayo. Ikho is a lecturer at GWC. She shared her experience of navigating intense grief through the lens of the gospel. It was incredibly powerful as the women were able to connect the dots between the teaching from 1 Thessalonians and Ikho’s experience.
There was also a beautiful song item by the music team.
CCSW’s Meggan Liebbenberg managed the logistics on the day with a range of wonderful women from CCSW helping with welcoming, ushering, serving tea and coffee and keeping an eye on the toilets. It was a very cold day, so the women were keen for their hot drinks at the refreshment break. Not a small task serving coffee to almost 400 people within 20 minutes so that there’s still time to chat and browse the CBD bookshop, but the team managed it with grace.
The only men on the campus were our wonderful parking team led by Sean, and Gerhard Bothma, the AV Manager from St James Church, who came through to assist with the sound.
