A CORRUPT WORLD
This past week reminded me that society is corrupt, but there are still notes of grace. The grace first… at Woolies! I went shopping for a bottle of wine - date night with Ruth-Ann. At Woolworths in town I spotted a promising buy. On closer inspection it had been marked wrong. It was NOT the "Kanonkop Kadette Pinotage" on the shelf, but their much more expensive flagship - for the “Kadette” price. I inquired with the shop assistant who then came back from the manager saying: “You can have it at the marked price”. I then got cheeky and asked if I could buy all four bottles. Off he went again… the answer was: “Yes, and here’s the deal! We will give you the first bottle free and you can purchase the others at the marked price”. The cashier’s eye’s nearly popped out of her head when she rung up the bottles with the discount… I was singing Woolies praises… it’s a wonderful world!
Later on in the week, I made an online purchase for running shoes - to a fake website! Oh dear… hopefully I’ll get my money back! Corruption is everywhere but this is still our Father’s world full of good gifts - and his grace to us in the gospel is the best deal ever! We should be singing his praises!
Yours in Christ,
Gavin
